IKEA is the first occupier in the new phase of the SEGRO Logistics Park Prague
SEGRO has commenced building works on the goods pick-up warehouse for IKEA, comprising over 6,000 sq m in a new phase of the Segro Logistics Park Prague nearby Vaclav Havel Airport. IKEA will start operations in the warehouse as early as January 2014. In searching for a suitable space, they were assisted by the Cushman & Wakefield Industrial Team who set up the developer tender.
“Construction of the IKEA goods pick-up warehouse facility in the west part of Prague is an important milestone in terms of market development. IKEA, a successful retail chain, is expanding its range of services to customers, and developers of commercial and industrial property are capable of responding to these needs through development, even in completely new locations. The IKEA goods pick-up warehouse facility is the first newly built warehouse to appear in the west part of Prague over the past two years,” reveals Head of the Industrial Letting Team at Cushman & Wakefield, Jaroslav Kaizr.
With this warehouse, SEGRO has launched development in a new project phase nearby the airport. It will also involve a new exit off the high speed R6 road, opening the location up to further development.
„It means a significant shift in terms of developers affecting the course of events on the market. It is clear once again that developers are ready to purchase land and develop new locations,” Kaizr added.
Paweł Sapek, Development Director Central Europe for SEGRO comments: „We are delighted that such renowned company has appreciated the convenient location of SEGRO Logistics Park Prague and has decided to entrust us with the development of its new object. That proves the attractiveness of our park among the tenants.”
David Plzak, Development Manager for SEGRO Czech Republic adds : “ For SEGRO Czech Republic this is an important transaction as it means that a new phase of the development has been started. The location is ready for the further development and we believe that due to an excellent connection to the highway net, vicinity of the airport and the city of Prague in combination with a very high standard of services provided will attract many new tenants.
